ASPPIRE News and Events…
ASPPIRE staff and participants are actively involve in their communities. ASPPIRE is proud to share the following updates:
ASPPIRE brings SWIM TEAM to Lansing
In honor of autism awareness month, ASPPIRE has secured a private showing of a very special film involving three teens on the autism spectrum. The movie will be showing on Sunday, April 22 at 11 am at Celebration Cinema in South Lansing (200 E Edgewood Blvd, Lansing). The trailer is sure to bring tears to your eyes.
Read more about the film here. Medium popcorn and pop combos will be available for $5.50. ASPPIRE is requesting a $5-10 donation to view the film and Logowear and other items will also be available for purchase at the theater. For this fundraiser, all profits will go directly into our scholarship fund that helps support those in our program with tuition fees and other supports and services that ASPPIRE provides. Everyone is invited, however seating is limited and you may reserve tickets in advance rather than at the door through eventbrite here. Because you will not be purchasing through the box office, seats are first come, first serve on the day of the event.
UAW Local 602 Donation
We recently received a generous donation from UAW Local 602 Women’s Committee. UAW members sold tee shirts with the goal of donating to a charity of their choice. Thanks to the recommendation of UAW member Lisa Smith, they chose to donate the proceeds to ASPPIRE. The money from this wonderful surprise will go towards the ASPPIRE Scholarship Fund for participants with financial need.
End of the Year Picnic
At the end of each year, ASPPIRE hosts a picnic for all participants and their families. This year’s picnic will be on May 23rd at Hawk Island Park in Lansing, 6:30-8:30 p.m. All participants and their families are welcome and encouraged to attend. More details to come.
